Physical Therapy Ethics-Jurisprudence Renewal Requirements by State
Why Ethics and Jurisprudence?
The responsibility of state boards is to review and make decisions on all the disciplinary actions of the field in that state. They require ethics and jurisprudence by statute for a couple different reasons:
- To ensure education on ethics decisions and the laws surrounding their profession in that state.
- To provide assurance that all licensed persons have received education in this area and can be held accountable.
- To act as a safeguard when faced with a disciplinary action – the respondent cannot claim unawareness.
The following information is meant to be a guide and should not be used as the source for determining your regulatory requirements. Please always check with individual state’s board website regarding your discipline’s ongoing requirements.
