Course Objectives
1. Recognize the risk factors, signs, and symptoms associated with latent TB infection and active TB disease
2. Provide an overview of recommended TB infection control in healthcare settings
3. Discuss common respiratory hazards in the healthcare settings
4. Review standard and transmission-based precautions, and practice the application of airborne precautions in the context of tuberculosis disease
5. Understand safe respirator selection and use, including fit testing and user seal checking
This course is designed to help organizations meet OSHA annual training requirements on respiratory protection per 29 CFR §1910.134(k), and CDC recommendations for annual tuberculosis training. It is also in alignment with CHAP standards HIPC 9.I in Hospice Infection Prevention and Control, and IPC.8.I in Infection Prevention and Control for home health.
