This course covers the OSHA Bloodborne pathogens standard and reviews standard precautions.
It discusses the three main bloodborne pathogens to watch out for in the healthcare setting--HIV, hepatitis B and hepatitis C--as well as occupational tasks with higher levels of risk. It also reviews strategies to protection you from pathogens, storage and disposal of contaminated syringes and other medical waste, and procedures for dealing with an exposure incident.
Objectives:
1) Provide training for healthcare personnel in all settings in accordance with OSHA requirements
2) Review common bloodborne pathogens and their modes of transmission
3) Discuss standard precautions and workplace controls to protect workers from bloodborne pathogens
4) Understand how to properly respond to an exposure incident
This course has been verified by Community Health Accreditation Partner (CHAP). It was also designed in alignment with ACHC standards for home health and hospice, and It provides training to help meet the requirements of OSHA’s Bloodborne pathogens standard: Estimated Runtime: 20 minutes
