1. Getting Started
In this chapter, we’ll review the factors in diabetes that can affect use of a prosthesis to prevent complications from occurring in your early treatment sessions.
2. The Patient–Prosthesis Interface
In this chapter, we’ll review how limb prosthetics are designed in response to the physical characteristics of the patient, including weight-bearing tolerance and joint ROM and strength. We’ll also discuss how having a working knowledge of the prosthetic device can enhance the success of your treatment plan.
3. Moving With Diabetes
In this chapter, we’ll review adaptions when implementing therapeutic exercise programs for the patient with limb loss and promote an understanding of diabetic management during prosthetic rehabilitation.
