Effective pain management is a hospice patient's right and an ethical responsibility for hospice staff. In this course, you’ll learn about possible symptoms indicating that patients are in pain, measures that can be taken to ease pain, and common barriers to effective pain management. In addition, the course will discuss psychological and spiritual pain at the end of life and potential steps that staff can take to help patients.
Objectives:
1) Identify patients’ rights to effective pain management
2) Describe signs that someone is in pain
3) Explain the importance of addressing emotional and spiritual pain and ways to do that
This course has been certified by ACHC, and verified to align with CHAP Hospice Standards of Excellence HCPC.12.I in Hospice Assessment, Care Planning and Coordination. It also provides training to help organizations meet the following federal regulations related to hospice services:
