1. Ethics Standards and Practice Acts
This chapter addresses health professional ethics and blended ethicolegal standards. It also introduces the Alabama PT Practice Act and Administrative Code.
2. Foundations of Professional Ethics and Ethicolegal Duties, and APTA Code of Ethics
The chapter discusses the ethical dimensions of professional practice in the context of the APTA’s Code of Ethics’ eight principles. Other topics include ethicolegal decision-making models, core values, pro bono service delivery, and the five bases for health care malpractice liability.
3. Patient Autonomy
This chapter explores the four sources of biomedical ethical obligations and the concept of patient informed consent and its exceptions. It also evaluates reporting statutes, including select Alabama reporting laws.
4. Alabama PT Practice Act and Board of Physical Therapy Administrative Code, Part 1
