Athletes of all ages participate in sports, including those athletes with chronic illnesses, like type 1 diabetes. Advancements in understanding and management strategies make it possible for athletes with type 1 diabetes to participate in sport. Due to the unique challenges of type 1 diabetes, it is incumbent on all healthcare providers to be able to assess and manage the athlete with type 1 diabetes in a variety of settings.

This webinar will provide knowledge of key concepts of type 1 diabetes, alterations of exercise metabolism, and practical management strategies to implement immediately that promote the health, safety, and optimal performance of these athletes.
