With the increased prevalence of outpatient referrals for persistent symptoms and activity limitations following COVID-19 infection, it is imperative that rehabilitation professionals be adequately prepared to manage patients with this condition.

This course will provide outpatient rehabilitation professionals with the most current evidence regarding the management of patients following COVID-19 infection. Included in this course are a review of the risk factors for COVID-19 infection, a review of the pathophysiology of COVID-19, and a presentation on examination techniques, monitoring principles, and potential modifications to rehabilitation programming for patients post COVID-19 infection.

The Pathophysiology of COVID-19

2. The Pathophysiology of COVID-19

This chapter will review the pathophysiological mechanisms involved with COVID-19 infection and the frequent symptoms reported by patients. Body structure and function impairments germane to COVID-19 infection and potential sequalae of ICU management will be included.

Outpatient Clinical Examination for COVID-19: Theory

3. Outpatient Clinical Examination for COVID-19: Theory

This section will introduce and review clinical examinations relevant to the most frequent body structure and function impairments reported in patients post COVID-19 infection. Interpretation of the findings from these clinical examinations and a brief demonstration of respiratory muscle testing techniques will also be included.

Outpatient Intervention Techniques for COVID-19: Theory

4. Outpatient Intervention Techniques for COVID-19: Theory

This section will introduce and review clinical interventions relevant to the most frequent body structure and function impairments reported in patients post COVID-19 infection. A brief demonstration of respiratory muscle training and breathing exercises to address dyspnea and intolerance to exercise will also be included.

Monitoring Considerations for COVID-19

5. Monitoring Considerations for COVID-19

This section will cover physiological and symptomatic monitoring considerations for patients post COVID-19 infection, including heart rate, respiratory rate, SpO2, and blood pressure.

Treatment Modification Considerations for COVID-19

6. Treatment Modification Considerations for COVID-19
