This chapter focuses on the importance of reassessing patient status with objective and functional measures to determine the efficacy of the occupational therapy treatment at hand, with a special emphasis on how to determine if daily modification of treatment tasks is needed. Danielle Keyser explains the necessity of using specific objective measures to dose exercises and provide evidence-based treatment, while emphasizing the importance of concrete evidence of progression to the patient.

3. Planning for Further Sessions

How is a client to know when further treatment is needed? Danielle Keyser provides an overview of the importance of providing specific and concrete feedback to the client regarding status, strengths, opportunities for improvement in the daily treatment session, and in relation to the duration of the treatment plan. Upon completion of this course, participants will learn to verbalize to the client the relationship between session performance and the advancement of the client’s long term functional goals and participations.
