1. The Moist Theory of Healing

A supportive topical environment is imperative to promote pressure injury healing. In Chapter One, we will discuss the moist theory of healing as well as overall topical treatment tips.

Debridement of Pressure Injuries

2. Debridement of Pressure Injuries

Pressure injuries with nonviable tissue are at risk for infection. In Chapter Two, we will discuss when a pressure injury should be debrided and the different forms of debridement.

Identification and Management of Infection

Pressure injury infection can delay healing and increase the risk of sepsis. In Chapter Three, we will discuss signs and symptoms of infection and how to properly manage infection.

4. Topical Dressings

Chapter Four will discuss the five major categories of topical dressings for pressure injuries. We will also discuss management of chronic wounds and the utilization of adjunctive therapies.
