1. Volar Orthoses for the Wrist
This chapter will cover several clinical conditions of the wrist requiring immobilization and discuss the volar wrist orthosis for these conditions. Viewers will be presented with the opportunity to watch the pattern making of a volar wrist orthosis, the preparation of the material and the molding to the patient’s arm, and then finally to see the completed orthosis. The volar wrist orthosis will be described in detail, covering the benefits of the design, the appropriate thermoplastic material selection and fabrication techniques. Additional tips and tricks will be offered in an easy to follow format.
2. Dorsal Orthosis for the Wrist
In Chapter Two viewers will review the clinical conditions that require a dorsal wrist orthosis, and the pattern making and fitting of the orthosis. You will see the steps involved in the fabrication of a dorsal wrist orthosis and learn some tips and tricks of fabrication.
3. The Wrist and Thumb: Long Opponens Orthosis
In this chapter the viewer will review the clinical conditions required for a hand-based resting hand orthosis, pattern making and fitting. You will see the steps involved in the fabrication of a hand based resting hand orthosis for the upper extremity and learn some additional tips and tricks for the process.
