The importance for all healthcare providers working in the rehabilitation setting to view patients in a holistic manner, with equal emphasis on addressing both physical and psychosocial issues, will be discussed.
2. Stress and Coping: A Theoretical View
A theoretical view of how individuals respond and cope with stress will be discussed. This discussion will provide an overview of the theory presented by Lazarus and Folkman.
3. Depression in the Rehabilitation Setting
The incidence of depression in the rehabilitation setting, symptoms which may be unique to this setting, the use of screening tools, common interventions and identifying the need for specialized referral will be presented.
