This is the second part of a two part series, following The Eclectic Approach to Clinical Neurodynamics: Part A.The Eclectic Approach to Clinical Neurodynamics is a modern orthopedic manual therapy course. The Eclectic Approach was founded by Dr. Erson Religioso III. In this course, participants will learn relevant Pain Science Education, Neurodynamic Assessment and Treatment and Repeated Motion Exam based patient classification, and Eclectic Approach Orthopedic Manual Therapy techniques. The techniques include IASTM with The EDGE Tool, compression wrapping with the EDGE Mobility Bands, how to integrate traditional joint mobilization with neurodynamics and more. Emphasis is placed on patient education and how to make the patient responsible for their own successful outcomes.

Chapters & learning objectives

Implications for Manual Therapy

1. Implications for Manual Therapy

The online learners will be able to treat the neural container, describe current research regarding neurodynamics in treatment of various musculoskeletal conditions, and identify applicable treatment conditions and methods.

Upper Limb Neurodynamics

2. Upper Limb Neurodynamics

The online learners will be able to define the indications for upper limb neural tension testing and describe three additional upper limb neurodynamic tests: the median nerve, 1 and 1a, the radial nerve and the ulnar nerve tests.

Lower Limb Neurodynamics

3. Lower Limb Neurodynamics

The online learners will be able to define the indications for lower limb neural tension testing and its relation to the sciatic and femoral nerves. Learners will be able to complete the slump test for both the sciatic and femoral nerves and identify biases for the peroneal, saphenous, and sural nerves.

Eclectic Approach to Neurodynamics

4. Eclectic Approach to Neurodynamics

The online learners will define the different sequencing of upper limb neural tension (ULNT) and lower limb neural tensions (LLNT) components for mobilization and be able to describe the use of IASTM for upper and lower limb to decrease threat and dramatically increase motion. Learners will be able to use neurodynamics as test-retest instead of as a sole treatment and use EDGE Mobility Bands as a compression wrap to decrease threat and increase motion for ULNT and LLNT.

Sample Case

5. Sample Case

This chapter presents a case study that goes through an evaluation and treatment of a patient with a history of chronic pain. Lindsay, the patient, fractured T-10 and L-2 while ski racing 6 years ago and has a fresh meniscal tear and MCL sprain. This chapter will follow Dr. Religioso as he performs his evaluation, treatment and follow-up visit with Lindsay.

Q&A

6. Q&A

Chris Johnson and Dr. Erson Religioso discuss the eclectic approach to clinical neurodynamics. Dr. Religioso discusses the clinical pearls, his emphasis on the home program, and take home messages from his course.
