Chapters & learning objectives
1. Addressing Patient-Specific Fall Risk in Basic Activities of Daily Living
Communicate with empathy while also providing important information to families and patients related to fall prevention. Build trust with patients during these sometimes difficult discussions.
2. Moving Beyond the Basics to Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADLs)
Start with the BADL as a building block in your fall prevention treatments. Make the treatments as real life as possible, either in someone’s typical living environment or through simulation.
3. Fall Risk Related to Driving and the Role of Occupational Therapy
Driving is an under-addressed and important IADL for OTPs. Fall risk has a direct correlation to someone’s risk for car accidents. OTPs will learn how to integrate this into treatments.
