Yoga is an ancient practice that has been used for centuries to help people balance their mind and body. Over the last few decades, research studies have shown the benefits of incorporating yoga into healthcare practices. This course will introduce the history and background of yoga and demystify misconceptions of yoga. The general benefits of practice and the application of yoga principles to populations with communication disorders with be outlined. Specific yoga protocols for all populations will be introduced and practiced, with emphasis on options and modifications for all abilities. Examples of how yoga can be incorporated into specific populations’ treatment will be highlighted.
