Often, therapists and assistants do not know when to and when not to issue an Advance Beneficiary Notice of Noncoverage (ABN) to a Medicare beneficiary. In addition, they do not understand how to properly complete an ABN and append the applicable modifier on the CPT code(s) on the claim form.
This course will teach participants when to and when not to issue an ABN to a Medicare beneficiary, how to correctly complete and issue an ABN, when they can collect funds from a Medicare beneficiary, and limitations of the ABN for Medicare beneficiaries who are enrolled in the Qualified Medicare Beneficiary Program.
