This course will cover the treatment of atypical breathing patterns utilizing several strategies. Positioning relative to breathing will be explained. The impact of gravity will be discussed relative to the treatment of atypical breathing. Several techniques utilizing towel rolls, movement, and manual techniques will be presented and demonstrated. These techniques will primarily involve mobilization of the rib cage.

This chapter will present manual techniques for mobilization of the individual rib segments, massage of the intercostal muscles, and mobilization of the quadratus lumborum.
