Chapters & learning objectives
1. Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches: Pre-awareness State
In this chapter, discover the state of current evidence around treatment interventions that can facilitate recovery of consciousness by examining evidence-based treatment options for individuals with DoC while highlighting key components of caregiver education/training.
2. Evidence-Based Treatment Approaches: Emerging State of Awareness
In this chapter, instructors will combat myths that this patient population is not appropriate for a functional-based approach. Discover ways to incorporate graded command following (object-directed and non-object-directed); facilitate therapeutic engagement in ADLs, functional mobility, and other meaningful occupations; and incorporate best practices around caregiver education.
3. Evidence-Based Documentation and Goal-Writing: What You Need to Know
In this chapter, learn how to accurately document environmental and manual techniques used during assessment, and the patient’s neurobehavioral responses. Discover best practices for translating assessment results into clear and accurate communications with interprofessional team members, patients, and caregivers. This information is critical to ensuring interprofessional collaboration and optimizing patient care and discharge plans.
