Effective time management is critical to successful outcomes for the precepting relationship in home healthcare. The demands of individualized patient care, travel, documentation, and unforeseen home health and hospice variables often lead to inefficiencies and stress. Preceptors must balance their dual responsibilities of providing high-quality patient care and their role as mentor/teacher. Likewise, mentees must balance their own tasks by integrating learning into an ever-changing environment.
This course provides practical time-management strategies for the preceptor–mentee pair in the home health and hospice setting. Participants explore ways to prioritize tasks, integrate learning into real-time care, and maintain open, efficient communication regarding effective time utilization.
Learning Objectives
- Determine collaborative time-management skills for preceptor–mentee success
- Distinguish best practices in time management for mentorship
- Construct a collaborative efficiency plan for preceptor–mentee activities
