Falls are a major source of injury for older patients in the home and are one of the top reasons older adults are admitted to hospitals. Fall prevention is key for the safety of home health patients. Ambulation is the act of walking, with or without an assistive device. There are various assistive devices and ambulation techniques to promote safety and a feeling of independence for home health patients. The aide must understand these supports and techniques and be able to apply them in their daily practice to keep their patients safe.
