Effective and routine oral care is necessary for maintaining the health of a patient’s mouth as well as their overall health. Oral hygiene is preventive care and is linked to the health of the whole body. Training is essential in the oral hygiene tasks of assessing the mouth, brushing the teeth and dentures, flossing, rinsing, and using mouthwash. This course will provide the home health aide with the basic concepts of proper oral hygiene and review the proper techniques for providing oral care to patients in home health.
